.NET 10 Demystified

My first Tech&Meet of the year!
This session was given by Kevin DeRudder. He walked us through the most important updates, changes, and opportunities the new version of .NET brings.
The agenda looked as follows:
- .NET
- C# 14
- Aspire
- ASP.NET
- Blazor
- Minimal API
He started off by explaining how the entire .NET ecosystem works together as ‘one big family’ to deliver a powerful, unified cross-platform development environment. Next, he showed us the new features in C# 14, including cleaner syntax, better performance optimizations, and tooling that makes cloud-native development smoother. He also demonstrated how Aspire helps organize distributed applications, and how Minimal APIs, Blazor, and ASP.NET all fit together in the .NET ecosystem.
What I really liked about this session was that he didn’t just list features from a slide but actually built a real demo using the Spotify API. Within minutes, Kevin created a working application that shows how .NET 10 handles real-world tasks. It was also nice to see that even the most experienced developers can make small mistakes. He fixed them quickly, but this proved to me even more that being able to debug yourself is a really important skill.
Thanks to Kevin for the energy and insights. It was a great first Tech&Meet of the year, and I left genuinely excited to try .NET 10 myself.
Final thoughts
What made this session different for me was the balance between speed and clarity. Kevin packed a lot into a short time, but I never felt lost. The Spotify API demo alone was worth showing up for. It turned abstract new features into a fully working demo you could actually see in action.
I also appreciated that he didn’t pretend to be perfect. Those small debugging moments made the session feel more real, and honestly, more encouraging.
Looking back, that’s exactly what a good tech session should do: not just inform you, but make you want to open your editor and try things for yourself.
